Engineer – Product (Helmets R&D) Full Time

GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Helmet R&D team is passionate group of engineers dedicated to transforming innovative concepts and challenges into helmets that get people excited. The team is based out of Foothill Ranch, California, and works across all helmet categories. The Product Development Engineer plays a pivotal role, forging a strong link between our imaginative designers, design engineers and the manufacturing partners.

This engineer is a vital part of the team, serving as the primary factory liaison and first-line problem solver during design-for-manufacturing, tooling kickoff, and final product validation. The ideal candidate has great project management skills, a keen eye for documentation and process improvement, and can anticipate challenges and be a pro-active partner during all phases of design. This individual joins a humble yet passionate team that’s committed to producing outstanding helmets for both the world’s best athletes, and ourselves.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as the key contact for our international manufacturing partners, ensuring smooth and clear technical discussions
• Manage new helmet projects, incorporating best practices to enhance team effectiveness and project visibility.
• Keep up-to-date technical records for products during their market lifespan.
• Organize various project timelines and monitor progress in a dynamic product development setting.
• Provide input on design-for-manufacture, facilitating collaboration between engineering, design teams, and manufacturing partners.
• Generate and apply clear documentation, templates, and procedures to streamline technical exchanges and minimize errors.
• Develop best practices and QA test standards that can be monitored by cross-functional partners.
• Limited travel to international factories.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• BS in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years relevant job experience.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Well-versed in standard manufacturing processes and design principles, familiar with designing and producing injection-molded parts..
• Proven experience in managing projects.
• Basic proficiency in at least one 3D CAD software package (Creo Preferred)
• Proficient in 2D drafting, best practices, dimensioning & tolerancing.
• Entrepreneurial spirit and pro-active approach to continuous improvement

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous consumer hard goods development/manufacturing experience.
• Hands on experience with, injection molding prototyping, and 3D printing
• Experience with conducting physical testing and sample evaluation
• Field Testing with end-users in various environments
• Global manufacturing experience.
• PMP certification.
• SAP experience.
• Understanding of product cost composition/structure
• Bilingual: English and Mandarin

​Pay Range: 101,480.22  – 146,809.38
